Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a torn left ACL in Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The injury occurred during Miami’s opening drive at Hard Rock Stadium, when Achane was tackled after an 11-yard run. He left the field under his own power after the play and was initially listed as questionable before being ruled out. Achane, 24, carried three times for 17 yards before exiting and finished the season with 127 rushing yards on 34 attempts through three games, along with seven receptions for 49 yards. The Dolphins entered the season expecting Achane to play a significant role after he produced a career-best 1,350 rushing yards and 1,838 yards from scrimmage in 2025, earning his first Pro Bowl selection.
The injury comes shortly after Achane agreed to a four-year, $64 million contract extension with Miami, including $32 million guaranteed. He has established himself as one of the Dolphins’ primary offensive weapons since being selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, accumulating 3,184 rushing yards and 35 total touchdowns in 47 career games.
Miami will now have to adjust its backfield following a 0-3 start. Ollie Gordon II handled most of the work after Achane left Sunday, rushing for 41 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, while Jaylen Wright was inactive because of a stinger. The Dolphins also used wide receiver Malik Washington in the backfield during the loss.
